Anonymised and confidential surveys via Waysayer
This page explains how Fastpath handles surveys that are set up with anonymised or confidential reporting in Waysayer. The description is intended for respondents, customers and others who want to understand how the product actually works.
This English version is a translation provided for convenience. The Norwegian version is the authoritative text; if the two differ, the Norwegian text prevails.

In short
- The recipient of the report does not learn who answered what.
- Fastpath retains a link between respondent, invitation link and response in order to handle invitations, reminders and general operation of the service.
- The customer can see overall progress and delivery errors, but not a list of who has or has not responded.
- Response reports only become available after agreed thresholds for number of responses, time or response rate.
- The survey creator marks which fields are group fields. Waysayer shows these clearly on the response page.
- Group fields are only reported separately when the groups are large enough. Small groups are kept together or are not broken out as separate groups.
Which surveys does this apply to?
This applies to surveys where the customer wants anonymised or confidential reporting from a group of respondents. Typical examples are employee well-being surveys, member surveys, internal feedback and other surveys where the responses are to be used in aggregate.
What does “anonymous” mean in this service?
The person who creates a survey can configure it with anonymised or confidential reporting. When a survey is set up this way, it means that the customer or the recipient of the report does not get access to the link between a respondent and the responses submitted. The customer receives only aggregated results, reports or exports that have been processed according to the thresholds that apply to the survey.
Fastpath nevertheless retains an internal link between respondent, invitation link and response. This link is necessary to send invitations and reminders, prevent duplicates, handle support and operate the service securely. The link is not shared with the customer.
What can the customer see along the way?
The customer can follow overall progress, for example how many have been invited, how many responses have been received, the overall response rate and any delivery errors that should be corrected. This makes it possible to improve the distribution without the customer seeing who has responded or what individuals have answered.
When do reports become available?
For anonymous surveys we use thresholds before response reports are made available. The default model is that reports are first opened when at least 5 responses have been received, and then either 2 days have passed or at least 60 % of those invited have responded. The agreement with the customer may set other thresholds, but these will be stated in the information text about anonymity on the response page itself.
The purpose is to prevent anyone from targeting or monitoring a small group and thereby inferring who answered what.
Group fields and small groups
The survey creator is responsible for marking questions as group fields when the answers can be used to divide respondents into groups the customer knows, for example department, team, coach or role. When a question is marked as a group field, Waysayer shows this clearly on the response page.
By default, a group field is only broken out separately in reports when the group has at least 5 responses, or another threshold stated for the survey. Groups below the threshold are not reported as separate groups. Depending on the survey setup, such responses may be included in a safer higher-level group, included in a combined category, or kept entirely outside the reporting dataset. When a group is kept outside the reporting dataset, the number of responses for the group is not stated.
If too many fields are marked as group fields, the combinations may become too small for the report to give meaningful group breakdowns. In such cases the customer can contact support for assistance. Fastpath can then evaluate the reporting dataset and consider whether certain groups can be merged, whether certain group fields can be omitted, or whether other controlled measures can be used without breaching the principles above.
Free text and identifying information
Even if a survey is configured with anonymised reporting, some questions may ask for personal data or other information that could make you or others identifiable. This may apply to free-text fields, but also to other types of questions.
The survey creator is responsible for the content of the survey and for avoiding asking for more identifying information than necessary. Fastpath does not manually check every individual response and does not edit content that respondents themselves provide, unless this has been agreed as separate assistance.
Agreements, DPA and other terms
This page describes product-specific measures for anonymous and confidential surveys. It does not replace the Data Processing Agreement (DPA), the standard terms or the privacy notice. For customers, the processing of personal data is governed by the agreement with the customer and the associated DPA.
